Recently I was afforded an opportunity to speak to a group of young ladies on the topic of Internet safety. The only problem was that I REALLY needed a refresher on the types of online threats young people are likely to encounter today.
I did a ton of research for the presentation on a variety of different types of threats, but the research I did on cyber predators really had an impact on me and changed the way I approached my kids spending time online.
Specifically, I noticed a chain of events that seemed to link the offenders to their victims, so I broke it down and called it the “Child Exploitation Chain“.
My hope is that by making parents and guardians aware of this pattern, that we may have a better chance of preventing at least some future cases of online child exploitation.
